Women Who Run With The Wolves
A Jungian Reading Circle & Reflective Seminar Series
Led by Elisabeth Pomès
Saturdays, January 23, 30, February 6, 13, 2027 from 7:00 -8:00 EST
First published in 1992, Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés has become one of the most influential and widely read works bringing Jungian thought into conversation with myth, folklore, storytelling, and feminine psychological experience. Drawing on fairy tales, legends, myths, and oral traditions from many cultures, Clara Pinkola Estés approaches these narratives not simply as stories, but as symbolic expressions of deep psychic realities.
Although the book speaks particularly to feminine experience and the recovery of neglected aspects of the psyche, its themes often resonate more universally: the tension between conformity and authenticity, the loss and recovery of vitality, Eros, the role of creativity, and the search for a more grounded and instinctive relationship to oneself.
Format:
This series is conceived as a thoughtful and relaxed space for reflection, conversation, and shared interpretation. Together we will examine the imagery, themes, and psychological insights woven throughout the text, while allowing room for personal resonance and collective exploration.
Over four gatherings, we will explore selected chapters from Women Who Run with the Wolves. Each session will focus on one chapter (to be announced in advance). Participants are invited to read the selected chapter beforehand so that our time together can be devoted primarily to discussion and exchange rather than summary.
Each gathering is designed as an independent seminar centered on a specific chapter and theme. Participants are welcome to attend all four sessions or only those that particularly interest them. The four meetings do not need to be taken consecutively, nor do they build upon one another in a strictly sequential way. Each seminar stands on its own while remaining connected to the larger themes of the book.
Sessions will include:
brief contextual introductions to the chapter and its Jungian themes,
guided discussion and reflection,
exploration of symbols, archetypes, myths, and narrative motifs,
open conversation in a relaxed and respectful atmosphere.
The seminar will primarily follow the Rider edition of Women Who Run with the Wolves: Contacting the Power of the Wild Woman, though participants are welcome to use any edition of the book.
